Somali terror plot reminds U.S. of backyard enemies

Once again, two “men” were detained at JFK airport in New York, on their way to Somalia for jihad. Mohamed Mahmood Alessa, 20, and Carlos Eduardo Almonte, 24, are the latest suspects in a series of attempts and plans from the far-reaching corner of Africa. They also are part of a new disturbing trend: Americans going abroad to train and fight. Sometimes with the plan to bring the fight back to the American people. ‘Black Widows’ unleash wave of Chechen terror; Russia readies for attacks

YouTube.com

Chechen rebel leader Doku Umarov vowed in early February to take revenge on Russia for a crackdown on his Islamic group. Russia had more than a month to prepare for the impending assault on its citizens, but it seems they took Umarov’s threat too lightly. In a series of coordinated and well-planned attacks this week, suicide bombers wreaked havoc and have tested the mettle of the Russian citizenry. — More

bin Laden threatens to make himself relevant once again

The man from the cave can’t seem to stay silent. Osama bin Laden, in an audio recording Thursday, threatened to kill any captured Americans if the United States puts Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM), the alleged Sept. 11 mastermind, to death. But is anyone on his side still listening? Maybe the Geneva Convention or the United Nations? — More
