Last month’s earthquake in Haiti is a somber reminder that, when disaster strikes a densely populated urban area, the emergency-care needs are huge and immediate. What happened in New York City after 9/11 and in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina underscores the need to be ready in advance to provide for large numbers of people in need of emergency care. — More
