Warning Coordination – Virginia Department of Emergency Management

This two day course is designed for emergency managers and those responsible for disseminating timely warning to the public in the event of an emergency or threatened disaster. Participants will study the sociology and psychology of weather warnings, gaining valuable insight into developing an effective emergency warning plan for weather events.
This course is instructed by Warning Coordination Meteorologist for NOAA’s National Weather Service.
Elective for Advanced Professional Series certification.

Rapid Assessment – Virginia Department of Emergency Management

Debris Management Training – Virginia Department of Emergency Management

This course, taught by Army Corps of Engineer instructors, is designed for emergency managers and planners, public works staff and waste management personnel. Public Information Officer Awareness – Virginia Department of Emergency Management

This one-day course will acquaint participants with a basic understanding of the Public Information Officer (PIO) function for those new to the position. The course is the prerequisite for the G-290 Basic PIO course and will be scheduled as the first day of a three-day block that includes G-290 Basic PIO as the last two days. Students are strongly encouraged to attend the two courses back to back.

The New York State Disaster Preparedness Commission Exercise Coordination Committee is sponsoring a Disaster LAN training course to be held at the State Emergency Operations Center, Albany, New York Disaster LAN is the web-based solution to integrating and managing multiple functions of the State Emergency Operations Center. This training program will introduce users to the Disaster LAN environment from log-in to situation reporting, and accessing and using key functions and tools.
