This intense and riveting documentary is a “nightmare-come-true” for emergency managers, as Nov. 26 will mark the first anniversary since the siege and slaughter in Mumbai, India, by ten poor young Pakistanis, recently conscripted into The Army of the Righteous or Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The HBO documentary is directed by Dan Reed, narrated by Fareed Zakaria, who was born in Mumbai.

It traces the steps of the ten Islamic radicals as they arrive in a stolen fishing boat and proceed to Mumbai landmarks to begin the systemic murder of 170 men, women and children, and the wounding of more than 300.

Reed uses taped cell phone conversations between the young terrorists and their manipulative handlers, CCTV footage, news reports and security camera tapes to give the viewer an eyewitness account.

Emergency managers in New York City will not find it much of a stretch to substitute Grand Central Terminal, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Waldorf Astoria for Mumbai’s landmarks.

This film is a must see and will serve as a “wake-up call” to a previously attacked metropolis about to host the largest and most ill-conceived terrorism PR event in history.
