Klaxon contest: $100

The Klaxon is offering $100 toward textbooks to students currently enrolled in an emergency management, criminal justice or homeland security degree program at an accredited college.

To qualify, e-mail a 400- to 500-word Flashpoint (editorial) on a current event related to emergency management, to inquiries@theklaxon.com. The best one (1) selected will be the winner.

In the e-mail, please state your full name, college/university of attendance, current year in school and major.

All this information will be verified.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate program.

Contest ends Feb. 22.
